With pride and a great desire to make its own contribution, RDM Group took an active part in the project “The Senses of the Sea” in Lerici (in the province of La Spezia), an aesthetic and ethical programme designed by Marco Nereo Rotelli and implemented thanks to the collaboration of international artists, musicians, scholars and associations (such as COMIECO) contributing to make the public rediscover the value and importance of the five senses of mankind.
One of the most eagerly awaited performances within the event was that on 12 September, which saw the great Chinese poet and calligrapher, Yang Lian, play a leading role. The multiple Nobel Prize nominee, who writes “poems to understand the world”, exhibited it through his impressive graphical-poetic gestures. Yang Lian performed an unpublished performance on handwriting Vinciliner cardboard supplied by RDM Group.
The reel, measuring approximately 200 metres long, was laid out along Galleria La Padula, built in Lerici during the Second World War as an air-raid shelter, which later became a pedestrian gallery and, for this occasion, transformed into a place of art. The aim is to trace what has been called “A Path in the Planet”, where the eastern written text and the western poetic sign meet graphically but, above all, symbolically.
The project aims to enhance all the senses and, therefore, also actions, such as feeling, seeing, sniffing, touching and tasting in such a way as to immerse ourselves in the purity of the environment that surrounds us.
