CORONAVIRUS EMERGENCY: PAPER INDUSTRY ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES

18-03-2020

Considering the current state of global emergency, while ensuring business continuity, RDM Group continues to focus the attention on the preservation of employees and stakeholders’ Health and Safety.

So far we have been able to guarantee the continuity of business: all RDM Group mills are operative, the sales teams are in constant contact with customers to meet any need and assure the continuity of service, the transport companies we work with continue to deliver goods and supplies.

As known, freight transport is experiencing critical issues and delays in these days: RDM Group is working on emergency plans to secure deliveries to all customers. RDM Group is trying to manage and minimize delays through alternative transport options (such as intermodal deliveries and deliveries to the borders) and through the re-allocation of production, where possible, to local mills.

We have already implemented the measures indicated by Health and Government Authorities, both Global and Local, introducing precautionary measures for all our sites (smart working methods, videoconferencing systems, safety distance between colleagues, the temporary suspension of visits). In addition, we have introduced specific instructions for hauliers, both those in charge of supplies and those dedicated to delivery our products to customers.

In the past few weeks, we have seen the situation changing quickly, until the decision taken by the Italian Government – to which other European countries are also aligning with – to close shops and commercial activities, with the exception of the food and pharmaceutical sectors. For both these industries, paper and cartonboard are essential components, in many different types of packaging, and are functional to safeguard the integrity of the products contained, preventing any alteration. To do our job today means something more: it means to support the entire society, social peace and allowing healthcare institutions and authorities to focus their attention on the current emergency.

Today we are confident in your collaboration to keep the entire paper and board supply chain fully operational, while scrupulously safeguarding common Health and Safety, a Value that RDM Group has always advocated.

We constantly monitor the situation on a global and legislative level, in order to promptly adopt all appropriate provisions, and we are more than willing to provide our stakeholders with more information.
