TWO SIDES HAS RELEASED THE NEW BOOKLET ABOUT PAPER-BASED PACKAGING

08-10-2021

Paper and board packaging represents the most sustainable choice among natural, renewable, recyclable and fit with the circular economy materials.

Recent research, conducted by Toluna and Two sides, Print and Paper Advocacy Group, revealed that consumers are concerned with the impacts of their packaging choices and they are demanding more sustainable solutions. Packaging is considered to be  important because it represents the first interaction between consumers and businesses.

The research showed that consumers still believe forests are decreasing in size but in reality, between 2005 and 2020, European forests grew by 58,390 km². It also showed that consumers are not sure about the high recycling for paper and cardboard in Europe at 83%, representing the highest of any packaging material.

Despite these misconceptions, the study reveals that paper and cartonboard are the most preferred packaging choices, specifically for environmental reasons. 55% of UK consumers prefer paper-based packaging as better for the environment, 51% for being easier to recycle and 77% for being home compostable.

The Booklet released by Two sides details the 8 reasons why paper packaging is the most natural and sustainable choice for brand owners, retailers and consumers.
