INDUSTRY COMMISSION OF THE CONGRESS OF DEPUTIES AND ASPAPEL VISITED RDM GROUP MILL IN BARCELONA

03-05-2024

On April 26th, RDM Group Barcelona Mill in Barcelona received a visit from a representation of the Spanish Industry Commission of the Congress of Deputies, composed of 4 deputies and the counsel of the Commission.

They were accompanied by Manuel Domínguez, General Manager, Rodrigo Álvarez, Director of Energy and Innovation, and Alicia Alaguero, Communication Manager of ASPAPEL (Spanish Association of Pulp, Paper and Cardboard Manufacturers).

The visit served to learn about the reality of our sector and the challenges we are facing, such as the processing of the industry law, the influence of energy costs, the difficulty in facing the generational change at the mills, the difficulty in accessing the PERTEs (Strategic Projects for Economic Recovery and Transformation) of decarbonization and circular economy, as well as access to quality raw materials and the influence of drought.

Thanks to the good predisposition of the mill’s personnel who collaborated in the organization and to the good predisposition of the Members of Parliament and representatives of ASPAPEL, the visit was very profitable and creative.

Then it was completed with a visit to the interesting and beautiful Capellades Paper Mill Museum, where the beginnings of papermaking in our region are remembered.
