Job description:
RDM is looking for a Sales Manager to join the External Sales Team based in the North American service center in Chesapeake, Virginia.
This position is primarily responsible for selling board to establishments in the business of bookbinding, puzzle making, stationery, luxury packaging, and folding carton manufacturers.
He/she reports directly to the Vice President of Sales, North America, Bill Schnitzler.
Accountabilities:
- Maintain customer base, in person and through virtual resources, to secure sales agreements within the parameters of price, quality, and service;
- Compiles sales leads, through industry ads, trade shows, websites, and other sources. Seeks out new lines of business and innovative ways to use board to expand Eska’s footprint and brand awareness;
- Travels throughout assigned territory to call on existing and prospective customers to solicit orders. Represents Eska at trade shows and other industry events. Travels to Eska/Reno de Medici locations as needed. Estimated 50% travel, to include international travel 2 – 3 times per year;
- Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained;
- Analyzes customer service trends within the industry, based on customer feedback, non-conformance, performance, and other available reporting. Formulates strategies to capitalize on the information to include budgeting and forecasting;
- Works in conjunction with the internal customer service and operation teams to provide support, resolve concerns, and provide outstanding customer service. Acts as an intermediary between the customer and Eska to resolve non-conformance complaints;
- Provides timely and accurate reporting of business transactions and expense accounts;
- Supports the finance department on outstanding customer accounts receivable, credit terms, and credit limits.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or five to seven years of experience in business, sales and marketing, or manufacturing;
- The majority of business is conducted in English, however, knowledge of foreign languages including Spanish, Dutch, Italian, or others is a plus;
- Experience in the pulp and paper industry, preferably in book, box, luxury packaging, and/or paper;
- Strong interpersonal skills such as sales, marketing, customer service, negotiation, or public speaking;
- Financial background in job costing, sales projections, and budget-to-actual performance measurement;
- Proven attention to detail;
- Strategic thinking to achieve organizational goals, capitalize on strengths, and mitigate weaknesses;
- Self-management including prior experience working remotely;
- Strong digital skills including the Outlook suite of software, a CRM (Salesforce preferred), and the ability to learn and use various proprietary software packages.
