On Thursday, September 21, during ECMA Congress in Seville, RDM Group received the Gold Award of the European Carton Excellence Awards 2023. The prestigious award recognizes innovation in sustainable carton packaging over the past year.
Hosted by Pro Carton – the European Association of Carton and Cartonboard Manufacturers – and the European Carton Makers Association (ECMA), the coveted awards celebrate the crème de la crème of sustainable packaging.
Valdo Ice Box, an ingenious cartonboard container, developed by RDM Group in collaboration with Artigrafiche Reggiane & Lai – AGR Group and Stora Enso, provides a unique solution for cooling the miniature Spumanti Valdo prosecco bottles. The versatile box not only securely holds the bottles in place, but also transforms into an elegant ice bucket.
Converted using a special water-resistant cartonboard, this innovation embraces the principles of sustainability. The cartonboard used by RDM Group is Vincicoat gsm 400, a recyclable and reusable solution with minimal environmental impact. In addition, the types of cartonboard used by RDM Group are 100% FSC certified and completely free of plastic components.
The box itself comprises two different types of cartonboard for the bottom and lid, treated to provide impermeability and ensure the ice cubes remain intact without any leakage over an extended period of time. Sold pre-assembled and equipped with a handle, it is designed to elevate special occasions with friends or act as a centrepiece for celebratory moments.
