The award was granted for the development of innovative projects and/or initiatives concerning safety at work. Villa Santa Lucia Mill won the “Più per Zero” award for the launch of a special awareness campaign about safety, featuring safety slogans on work clothing – such as ‘Be noticed to be safe’, ‘Family is waiting for you’ and ‘Watch my back’ – calling on workers to always pay attention, not only to themselves but also to their colleagues.
Equally important is the “Obiettivo Zero” award that Fondazione Lazzareschi has acknowledged to Villa Santa Lucia Mill for achieving the zero accident goal in 2020.
Also Ovaro Mill obtained two recognitions: the “Più Basso Indice di Gravità” award for achieving the lowest severity rate in 2020 and the “Più per Zero” award thanks to the installation of the so-called ‘safety joystick’, an enabler-switch installed on several machines that aims to avoid or reduce the risk of accidental contact with moving components during regulation and testing activities in dangerous areas, such as those beyond safety fences.
It is thanks to the launch of the BBS – Behavior-Based Safety pilot project that also Santa Giustina Mill won the “Più per Zero” award. It is a Behavior-Based Safety system based on a scientific protocol that represents a milestone for the Group in the evolution of its safety system. The promotion of safe behavior is the core principle of this system: the aim is to make the most of it by extending its principles to all the other plants in the Group by 2023.
Finally, also the safety communication initiative “Drawing Contest”, an internal Group competition involving children and their artwork or drawings dedicated to the issue of safety at work, was also considered worthy and innovative. Usually, the best drawings become part of a calendar that is handed and distributed in all RDM Group mills.
